City Connects Offers Opportunities and Results

Every student can learn and grow with support and opportunities. Now, with unprecedented data from City Connects’ personalized student support plans displayed in the public ConnectIndy dashboard, we can take action to get students what they want, families what they need, and schools the resources they have long been looking for.

City Connects has a successful 25-year record of evidence showing that participating students have increased attendance rates, decreased dropout rates, improved state test scores, and increased likelihood of attending college.

With this dashboard and information from public schools implementing City Connects across Indianapolis, community stakeholders will see the relationship between student interests and ongoing initiatives. Service providers will get insight into areas of need to better target their support. Philanthropic partners will be able to ensure their investments prioritize what really matters to Indianapolis students, schools, and families.

Since 2022, City Connects has served thousands of students in 28 Indianapolis schools.

City Connects: A Comprehensive Approach to Student Support

Ensuring each and every student receives services and resources needed to be academically successful

A City Connects Coordinator collaborates with teachers and others who know the student to review the strengths, needs, and interests of every student. With family approval, the coordinator then links each child to a tailored set of services and enrichment opportunities in the school or community addressing their particular strengths, needs, and interests. Enrichment activities can include sports, arts, and music; services range from social-behavioral skills support and health services to afterschool programs and mentoring. The personalized set of activities and services is designed to help each child reach their full potential.

I believe student support has significantly improved due to City Connects. Their comprehensive approach ensures that each child’s academic, social-emotional, physical, and family needs are identified and addressed in a timely, personalized manner. The coordination and follow-through by our City Connects Coordinator has led to stronger partnerships with families, improved access to services, and a noticeable increase in student engagement and well-being across our school community.
